Manufacturers – Why you should use CGI animation

SO, WHAT EXACTLY IS CGI?

Computer-Generated Imagery, or CGI to make it simpler, is still or animated visual content with the use of computer software. Most commonly, CGI is the use of 3D computer graphics to create scenes, characters and special effects for film, television and games. This type of technology is everywhere around us from virtual reality, architecture, advertising and in your case, engineering videos. Interestingly, CGI is heavily on the rise since it is often cheaper to create in comparison to using the demand of physical and human resources i.e. hiring people, camera equipment or a film set.

MANUFACTURERS, HOW CAN CGI BE OF BENEFIT TO YOU?

Here are 7 reasons why you should be using animation to market your product:

1. EASY

This easy way of marketing your product online can be done all from the comfort of your office. Simple and easy. All we need are the original CAD files, benefits, a description of the material look and finish, and voila: we have a finished professional 3D CGI video. Of course, I’ve made that seem easier than it is, but the basics are there.

2. DETAIL

This advanced way of visual promotion allows for CGI to get in close to products with clarity. In the engineering world, CGI will draw the customer’s attention by using detailed closeups that are hard for the human eye to physically see, or focus more attention of your unique selling points, no matter how small.

3. ADAPTABILITY

CGI gives opportunities to show variations of a product. The use of 3D animation allows for an object to be simply copied and pasted to show different colours and styles. Again, easy yet effective. Basically, if we have the CAD files, we can make that product in as many different finishes, colours and sizes as you want.

4. VISUALISATION

This type of visual animation gives a company the chance to show a 360o rotation around a product. In return, this will draw the customer’s attention as it clearly shows the whole product with sections you may not normally be able to see from a simple still image online. This allows us to move around a product without worrying about gravity.

5. MEASUREMENT

3D CGI allows for measurements to be placed on the product in a moving motion. This gives the customer an insight into the sizing of the object and allows them to get a feel of the product specifications.

6. TRANSPARENCY

A benefit of 3D CGI animation allows a product to be made transparent. In the manufacturing industry, this type of animation would allow you to show the parts of a product that we cannot see. Showing intricate parts of the product allows your buyer to see the benefits of what you are offering. With this, we can also ‘explode’ the parts of a product to show how all the parts form together, which in real life would be extremely complex.

7. ACCESSIBILITY

The practicality of filming inside a machine is a literal nightmare. Tight spaces, safety issues, potential damage to a camera with liquid or materials etc. means that many machinery parts or processes are inaccessible and not possible to film. So, we use 3D CGI to explain the internal workings of a product in an engaging, educational and safe way.

So, in a nutshell you could be using this high tech, low-cost, simple yet effective way to promote a product or service and boost your demand.
